December arrived and Israelis were blessed mightily with Chanukah, drenching rains and, for some very special guests, several young people and moms whom Yad Rachamim had the pleasure of assisting in 2018, an outing, a day-trip to the Golan and the Galilee.
Yad Rachamim chartered a big, comfortable bus and hired a tour guide (with a delightful sense of humor) to share with us a bit of Israel’s history.
Leaving Jerusalem about 9 am, the bus headed north to the Hula Valley where we hoped to catch a glimpse of migratory birds. We found thousands of gorgeous birds making lots of noise so both the adults and young people found something to make them happy!
A visit to the Dag Al HaDan Restaurant at Kibbutz Dafna was next. The weather that day was lovely and we were able to eat outside and enjoy the “wildlife,” chickens, cats, a peacock and ducks! After lunch, we toured a fish farm where we were allowed to both pet the fish and receive “fish foot massages” from them!”
